Saturday with the Family

My aunt wanted to make sure to have a big get together while Lisa and her family where her so everyone could see them. So on Saturday we all headed out to Pauline and Wayne's with all the cousins, all the aunts and uncles and all the grandkids. It was such a fun day! The kids swam ALL day (not my girls, they wanted to play inside with the dollhouse for some reason), and we all just had such a fun time visiting and eating yummy food. I love getting all the cousins and second cousins together. Poor Korben was once again the only boy! 8 girls and 1 boy!

Aubrey had so much fun playing with the toys inside. It was so nice outside and everytime I was looking for her I would find her playing inside.

Adalyn and Aunt Lisa.

Ice Cream time. Not really a fan of giving my kids ice cream cones, but sometimes I have to put that aside and let them dig in. A week later I am still trying to get the stains out of Adalyn's shorts!

This was a funny moment. The bottom of her cone fell off because she was squeezing it so hard. Well she didn't like that and was crying and crying. We kept showing her she could still eat the top and finally she believed us and tried. Poor girl.

Pool time!

And then we stopped for pizza on our way home to finish off a great day!

Family Pictures

One thing that my mom really wanted while my sisters family was here was a family picture with all of us plus my Grandpa. So of course we had to make sure that happened. My friend Danielle came and took a bunch of pictures of us. They turned out so great and we were so thankful that she spent so much time making sure they were just what we wanted. Here's what we got! Just a warning, there's a bunch so I once again had a hard time choosing.

Here is the group shot. Pretty good since we had 6 kids with us!

All the girls.

Sweet sweet cousins!

Just because I think this is a sweet one.

Girls Day at Sea World

We had such a great visit with my sister and her family while they were here. The whole time they were here I was just constantly reminded what a faithful God we serve! While the boys (minus Jeff who had to work) went to Comic Con, a big comic convention here in San Diego, the girls headed to Sea World for the day. We had a blast and the girls really enjoyed their first time to see Shamu. We had a few incidents throughought the day...Aubrey falling out of the stroller onto her forhead on the concrete which scared mommy maybe more than her, mommy accidentally rolling over Aubrey's ankle with the stroller and then to top it all, getting soaked at the dolphin show which neither girl was a fan of AT ALL, but other than that they were troopers and had a blast with their cousins. They each got to take home a little stuffed Shamu in which Aubrey insists on calling "Shampoo". It cracks us up everytime!

Ready to start our day. It was freezing that morning!

Zoe and Kyla watching the starfish.

Here is Aubrey soon after the forhead incident. Anytime blood trickles from the head I panic a bit!

Watching the Sea Lions.

Riding a few Sesame Street rides.

I wished I had a picture of the girls reaction to getting splashed by the dolpin. Adalyn was really upset that her glasses that got wet, and then she fell asleep less than 5 minutes later as Nana was holding her!

Funny moments in the Skains House...

Aubrey has been cracking us up lately with all the funny things she has been saying...

She recently came up with a nickname for his sister. She calls her Adalynni! So now when you ask Adalyn her name she says "Adalynni". My sister's family has been here for the last week and a half so my two year old neice also calls her Adalynni now. So funny!

As I mentioned before, my sisters family has been here visiting from Atlanta. Aubrey and Adalyn have both been in heaven playing with their cousins. One of the first things they ask me in the morning is if we get to see our cousins today. On Sunday after church we all went to lunch and as Aubrey was sitting with her cousins, in a very excited voice she announced, "these are ALL my cousins".So cute!

Aubrey was in a super silly mood after church Sunday so the conversations we had on our way home was hilarious. SHe had us laughing the whole way home. I don't even know where she got half of this. As she was reading a new book she told Adalyn. "this is 46 pounds alright. Thats how you get money". I have NO idea what she was talking about! Then she went on to tell me over and over, "after naps we go get money and gas at the mall alright mommy". And it continued...as she was reading her book she said, "Jesus told God you be happy Alright. That's how we do it God".

She is also really into Jonah right now and always wants me to read her a story about Jonah. Today she brought me her childrens bible and asked me to help her find the story about Jonah so she could "read" it to Adalyn. When I found it she said "where did the big fish go?". It was on the next page but it just makes me laugh that she picked Jonah to be interested in.

I love the funny things that my almost 3 year old says and I love that she keeps me smiling all day!

I have a bunch of posts coming soon of all the fun we had with my sister and her family!!!

Beach Bonfire

One of the great things about living in San Diego is hanging out at the beach with friends. But the bad part of always being at the beach is that our van and our house are constantly covered in sand. In fact, the other day as I was putting the girls down for naps Aubrey asked me if I could get the sand out of her bed. Oh my California girl! A few of our friends got together last Friday night for a bonfire at Mission Bay. We had such a blast. The girls had tons of fun rolling around in the sand and then getting to help daddy roast marshmallows for their first taste of a smore. The most fun though, for the girls, was definitely eating the smores. Yum! They were so dirty by the time we headed home, at 9:45! The sand just stuck to the marshmallow on their faces. They both feel asleep on the way home of course, so neither of them were very happy to get a bath instead of being put in their beds.

Playing in the sand. Once again, sand everywhere!

Keeping warm by the fire.

Getting ready for smores. Roasting marshmallows...

Yum, smores!

See why we needed bath's when we got home!

Aubrey's First Movie

Jeff and I thought it would be fun to have a special Aubrey day, with just mommy and daddy. My parents where going to keep Adalyn and we decided to take Aubrey to see Toy Story 3 and out to lunch. We had lots of fun with her but not sure if she is quite ready for a movie at the theater yet. As long as she had something to snack on she was good but I was not about to let her eat m&m's through the whole movie. She did great at the beginning, super restless and whiny towards the middle, but after Daddy took her to the lobby and gave her a "talking to" she was perfect through the end. We then took her to eat lunch at Islands. She kept asking "we go get Adalyn now?". She did miss her sister, but I know she enjoyed her special mommy, daddy time. I love my little girl and doing special things for her!
Ready for the movie to start!
