Dinner Time Dress Up

The time the girls actually play best together is after naps while I am making dinner. Often when I am cooking dinner they walk downstairs to show me their newest dress up creations. The other night Aubrey walked in the kitchen with her pink tutu, her pink fairy wings, red high heels, a pink boa, and a wand. I told her that she looked like Pinkalicious wearing all that pink. Her response to that was: "Oh, let me go get my pink sunglasses". And this was her outfit:

Adalyn wanted to sneak in the picture too, and she said she dressed up like Fancy Nancy. She does look pretty fancy.

The next night as I was cooking the girls appeared in the kitchen looking like this:

This time they said they were dressed up as "fancy babies". That one cracked me up. Fancy babies??? Where do they come up with this stuff?

The Night Night Game

Aubrey and Adalyn are really the best of friends. They play so well together. They fight too... they fight often... but they really really play so well together. Usually when they escape to play upstairs together they are playing the "night night game", in which they put all their babies down for naps all over their room. They made up this name all by themselves, creative... I know! But the other day the "night night game" snuck out of their room. Jeff and I were working around the house when I came upstairs to find this in the hallway:

When Jeff came to take pictures he then found this in the guest room.

And then one more baby hiding in the guest room as well.

Adalyn and Daddy Date Night

Jeff told Adalyn a few weeks ago that if she could keep her pull up dry at night for 7 nights in a row that she could start wearing undies to bed AND he would take her to Chuck E Cheese all by herself. Well she accomplished her goal so the night after Aubrey's date night it was Adalyn's turn. She was pretty excited about it all day. She also got to pick out her dress, and when I asked how she wanted me to do her hair she asked for pigtail braids just like Aubrey had done the night before. So cute! Here is Daddy with his princess #2!

Pizza time!

So focused!

She looks pretty excited about that push up.

I think it was another successful date night!

The next night it happened to be "mommy/daddy date night". Jeff was one lucky guy! Adalyn said something so hysterical this night that I had to write it down. As I was getting ready Adalyn asked me where I was going. I told her I was going on a date with a good looking man, in which she said "you going with daddy too". Jeff was slightly offended :).

Our date night. Finally my turn!

Daddy and Aubrey Date Night

Last week, as the girls and I were eating lunch, Aubrey said to me "I wish it was daddy date night". I thought that was so cute and it was really the first time she came up with this idea all on her own. Of course Jeff loved this too so a couple of nights later they indeed had a date night. Aubrey was so excited! That whole day all she did was talk about how she couldn't wait for daddy to get home. I let her pick out her dress and asked her how she wanted me to do her hair. She was just so cute and seemed so grown up. In fact, I told her as she was getting dressed that I didn't want her to get any bigger. Her response made me smile: "It's okay mommy. I'm still a little bit little. I'm a little bit big AND a little bit little".

She was seriously a giddy little girl when Daddy picked her up. He let her choose the place for dinner. You can guess where she picked! Pei Wei of course. Here they are on their super cute date night!

About to eat her favorite meal: Chicken and rice!

After dinner they walked over to Claire's and Aubrey picked out a fabulous pair of pink sunglasses. She also picked out a cute pair for Adalyn too. And then they headed out for ice cream at coldstone. Sounds like a pretty perfect date to me!

Uh Oh

Look who is getting ready to get scootin around all by herself. This week Avery's newest accomplishment is getting on all fours and rocking back and forth. We just may have a crawler on our hands pretty soon!

Rainy Day Baking

Is there anything better to do on a rainy day than bake??? I don't think so. We haven't had many rainy days here, so when the rain came I got inspired. While Avery was taking a nap the girls and I got busy baking oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Yummy!

Let's get started!

They thought this part was pretty fabulous.

Adding the oats.

Stir it all together.

And now lets get them ready for the oven!

And as I always say... the best part is definitely eating them right out of the oven!

Happy 4th of July

The past three 4th of July's we have spent on the beach. It became our little tradition. So this year I was a bit sad as the 4th was approaching. So I am so happy to say that this 4th of July was one of my favorites ever! It was just a fun family day celebrating our country. We hung out in Kingwood all day and did all the fun patriotic things they had for our community. It was actually very nice to be back in Texas for the 4th. I hope this is our new tradition every year, at least as long as we live in Kingwood!

The first part of the day we spent at the parade with our neighbors. The girlies had a blast running for the candy!

After the parade we went and ate lunch and came home for naps. Then we headed back out to get ready for fireworks at Town Center. They had all sorts of fun things out there. The girls just had fun running around and dancing to the music the band was playing. When I asked Adalyn if she wanted to see fireworks she very excitedly responded "Yes! And I want to see Snow White and Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty". This cracked me up. I had to explain to her we weren't going to Disneyland to see fireworks. I guess she remembers that. Even when I asked Aubrey she too said "We're going to Disneyland today?". I had no idea that they would put those two things together! Anyways, here we are just having fun together waiting for fireworks.

It's getting dark... and they were getting both tired and excited. Poor girls didn't get to bad til 10:30 that night!!!

A Week Away

We spent this past week in Ft. Worth and Arlington keeping busy with friends and family. We were originally supposed to go with Jeff while he had training but last minute it got cancelled. We decided to go ahead and stay anyways because we had to be there two weekends in a row. It was fun week. It was a stressful week. And most definitely an exhausting week! Two days into our trip I got sick with a sinus infection, and Avery decided she no longer wanted to sleep through the night anymore. I was running on very little sleep all week while feeling pretty icky. Not such a great combo. But we made the most of it, hung out with friends we never get to see and spent lots of time with Jeff's family. Here's a little glimpse into our week away.

The trip began with a fabulous bridal shower for Alicia that Melodie, Alicia's sister and I threw. Sadly the only picture I got.

The next few days after that we spent at Melodie and Jeremy's house. I have no idea why my camera never came out again. What a bummer. I never got pics of our kids playing (or fighting), I never got pictures of our mini college reunion that we had and the billion of kids running around, and I very sadly didn't a single picture of our girls night with three of my best friends from college. Goodness how did that happen?!? But I can assure you it was fun!

Mid week we headed over to Jeff's brothers house and we stayed there for three nights. The girls had a blast playing with their cousins Reegan and Riley.

We spent lots of time swimming and playing at Casey and Holly's house. The girls of course had so much fun with their cousins Kyley and Kolby.

All the girls sporting their fancy hats!

Our 4 kiddos had way too much fun together when went out for dinner together. They were all so cute playing together.

Cheers!

On friday I had a chance to meet my sweet friend Bekah and her two adorable boys for lunch. This girl is so dear to my heart and I miss her so much. She is just one of those women that I look up to in every way! She is actually a friend from San Diego and they too recently moved to Texas. I'm so thankful I get to see her occasionally now!

Friday night and Saturday was more family time. I was just not good this past week about pictures so I hardly have any from friday night and not a single one from our big pool party on Saturday. Here are the few I got!

Here's Jeff's mom recovering so nicely. She had to covered up her stomach to keep the grandkids from trying to jump on her!
