Adalyn's First Haircut

Our sweet little Adalyn Ella just got her first haircut on Saturday!

The before picture. Yikes! See, it was time.

She was such a good girl. She just sat there, looking very bored, the whole time.

Almost done. Finally a smile for the camera.

Somehow, we forgot to take a picture of the finished product. I will have to take that tomorrow and add it later. Oops!

Aubrey also got her hair cut. She actually cried for some reason through the whole thing, even though this was her 4th haircut. Oh my moody little two year old!

The Flower Fields

On Sunday we had a much needed family day, and headed up to Carlsbad to see The Flower Fields. I have heard about this since we moved here but have never been. They are only open for a few weeks during the spring, so it's been on my list of places to go for awhile! It was absolutely stunning there, and the pictures don't even come close to doing it justice. The girls had a blast playing on the playground and running around the Sweet Pea Maze. And we of course took a bazillion pictures!

A small glimpse at the amazing colors and flowers.

Daddy and his girls.

Smelling the flowers.

Our pretty girls!

On the way home we made a quick stop at the beach. Daddy and Aubrey wanted to put their feet in the water.

Adalyn was there also, but she was so ready for a nap and not at all ready for another picture. She just kept crying "home" over and over. Poor girl.

One Blessed Mommy

I know I've said it many times before, that life of a mommy isn't the most glamorous job and is exhausting pretty much all the time! But as I was sitting with my girls eating lunch at the zoo on friday and watching Aubrey make silly faces at the camera, just the three of us, I just began feeling so blessed that I get to spend all my days with these two gorgeous girls. They make me laugh so much, and there is not one thing that I would rather do with my days then spend them giggling with my girls. Adalyn is a constant joy. I could seriously just watch her talk all day. She has the funniest expressions when she talks and it just melts my heart and makes me laugh all the time. I am always asking her questions just so I can watch her answer. Aubrey is full of conversation these days and is always saying something that makes me laugh so much. She definitely talks and talks and talks all day. Hmmm... I wonder where she gets that from, possibly her daddy??!!?! I love carrying on conversations with my sweet Aubrey Claire, or Aubrey Care Bear as she refers to herself. These girls bring joy to my heart. I am so thankful that God has blessed me with such sweet girls and with days full of laughter!

Jesus Books

Aubrey calls these little books she is holding "Jesus Books". She loves them and she is often carrying them around the house in her purse. So of course she loves to read them. For the last few week I have found Aubrey sitting down reading these "Jesus books" to herself. And this is how the story goes according to Aubrey. "Last time, Jesus saw Moses." That's what she has been saying as she is reading to herself. But now since Easter the story now is "Last time, Jesus is alive". It cracks me up everytime I see it.

Comfortable?

This couldn't be comfortable right?

This is really how I found Adalyn when I went to cover her up during her nap. I couldn't help but take a picture!

(again can't figure out why blogger keeps rotating my picture. So annoying!)

Happy Easter

We had a great Easter this year. I'm always so excited for holidays and to give the girls gifts, probably more than they are! And this Easter was no exception. We started our morning off with giving the girls their Easter baskets...

Then we had our first annual Easter Egg Hunt around our house. Aubrey was really into hunting for the eggs and knew exactly what she was doing. Adalyn on the other hand was happy with holding one egg she found. So funny!

And they're off...

I found one!

A quick pose with Daddy.

We then headed to church. And this was a very proud moment for me, because Jeff and I were in our seats 5 minutes before church began! Now, we normally get to church right when it starts, but I was a little nervous about Easter since we had so much to do before church. It's hard enough to get out of the house by 8:30 on a normal day! Anyways, we went with my parents to their church and it really was a great service and an amazing time of worship. Dr. David Jeremiah shared with us all wonderful reminder of Christ's sacrifice, how real His love is for us, and how time and time again His ressurection has been proven. Now one thing I struggled with this year was trying to teach the girls the reason why we celebrate Easter. I didn't want them to get stuck on all the Easter bunny stuff. Christ's ressurection is a pretty hard thing even for adults to understand, so how in the world do you teach that to a 1 year old and a 2 year old. But we have just been talking about how Jesus is alive now. After church we were in the car headed to my Aunt's house and over and over Aubrey kept saying "Jesus alive". Jeff and I were cracking up. So maybe she did sort of get it!

After church, we all headed over to my Aunt and Uncles house for brunch and another Easter egg hunt. It was fun to get the cousins together. Aubrey had a blast playing with Caitlyn all day. Adalyn just wanted to climb up and down the cement stairs, and make mommy really nervous!

My sweet girls. Gosh I love them!

Our family.

Not sure if Aubrey is stealing something from Devyn's basket or not!

Daddy helping them look through all their goodies!

Just a sweet little girl!

Adalyn really loves her Papaw!

Both of the girls loved playing with Caitlyn. At one point I heard Caitlyn say to Aubrey "how old are you." Aubrey responded, "I two, Adalyn one." Then Caitlyn said, "Well when I get bigger I am going to be 5 and you are only going to be 4". So funny. She really liked being the big girl!

Crunching the leaves instead of smiling for me!

Preparing for Easter

What fun we had getting ready for Easter here at the Skains house. The girls had a blast making a fun easter basket craft, and even more fun when it was time to decorate Easter Eggs. And of course Jeff and I loved every moment of watching their excitement.

The finished product!

(I seriously don't know why some pictures are popping up sideways...but I have spent way too long trying to fix it so they are just going to have to stay that way. So frustrating!)

Painting our eggs!
