Our growing boy!

Landon is now five and a half months old and is up to a few new things, besides continuing to get cuter and cuter! He really really is just so sweet and I am loving every moment with him. He has become a little giggle box and his smiles are most definitely contagious. He seems to be happiest when someone is talking to him or holding him. He gets a little frustrated if I leave him on his own for too long, which can be a bit tricky with three other little girlies. Here are some things he has been up to the past few weeks.

Here he is on his five month birthday.

We bought a new excersaucer/jumperoo this time around. The three girls wore the other one out! He likes to be in there but he hasn't figured out how to jump yet. I know it will only be a matter of time though.

This made me laugh. Adalyn made Landon a picture, and I found it here. She left it for him on his jumperoo. How cute!
We started him on oatmeal this week (although I kind of keep forgetting about to as of right now he only has been getting it every other day. Oops!). He seems to be doing okay with it. Not really my favorite baby stage. In fact I already told Aubrey once he has it down good her new job will be to feed Landon. She can't wait!

Here he is ready to eat for the first time.
As you can see I had a table full of "helpers".

He has also found his toes lately and loves loves to play with them. I love his rolly little thighs!

Pretty much every night the girls want to cuddle with Landon before bed. Luckily this night I had my camera near by to capture Adalyn loving on her baby brother. Just a sweet moment that put a smile on my face.

Mommy and my sweet sweet boy. Oh how I love this boy of mine. The baby of the family and the only boy... this could be a problem!

Just Your Typical School Post :)

We have a had a fun few weeks here at home doing school and just wanted to share fun ideas.

We have done some fun Easter and spring crafts which is always a favorite time around here.

A couple of weeks ago I went to lunch with a friend of mine and her girlies. She has a kindergartener in public school and she started telling me all the things they are doing and all the things she has learned. I immediately started comparing and feeling like I wasn't a good home school mom. She told me her daughter was writing 4 to 5 sentence stories. Oh goodness, I started panicking. I hadn't even started Aubrey on writing one sentence yet! Well my sweet friend told me no panicking! I bet she already knows how to do it. Just try it out with her and ask her to write about something she enjoyed doing over the weekend. So I did, and this is what I got!
So she knew how to do it already! And now a few times a week she writes her own little story. That same day, we were outside playing. Aubrey was swinging and she just started reciting a few of her Bible verses that we have been memorizing, just out of the blue. It was as if God used her to tell me I am doing exactly what He has called me to do. He is pretty great isn't He!
I also started Adalyn writing too, and she too has surprised me .
We ordered our little caterpillars, and they are now in the chrysalis stage. If you haven't done this I highly recommend it. It is so much fun for the kids and myself watching them change.

We also made these bird feeders about a week and a half ago and not one single bird has come. So sad. I was really excited about this little science experiment. I'm still holding out!

This wasn't technically "school" time, but they have spent so much time outside playing and blowing bubbles lately. We are just enjoying this weather so much. I can feel that summer heat just around the corner!

Family Day at the Zoo

Last Saturday we decided to take the kiddos to the zoo for a much needed family day. Well, forgetting that it was the Saturday of Spring Break, the zoo was packed! We couldn't even find a parking spot and seriously thought we were going to have to make different plans. Lucky for us, Jeff found a perfect spot. At first we thought it was going to be a really long walk, but we ended up walking through Memorial Hermann Park on the way to the zoo and that (and the walk back) was the best part of our zoo day. The girls just ran through the park as we walked to the zoo, and we even got to feed the ducks. Now I'm not sure how much actual time was spent looking at animals. By the time several diapers were changed (and outfits since Landon leaked twice), lunch was eaten, snacks served, trips to the bathroom, and a baby nursed a couple of times, that didn't leave much time left! Nonetheless it was a gorgeous day and we just really enjoyed our day together. I think Landon had fun on his first trip to the zoo too!

So our first stop was eating our picnic lunch. We were trying for an earlier start but by the time we actually made it into the zoo it was lunch time.

Watching the gorillas. They love this part!

They also loved the aquarium

The rest of these were taken on our walk back to the car and we got to feed the ducks again.

After we had been feeding the ducks for awhile this little beaver type (I'm not sure it's real name) stuck his little head out of the water. This lady and her children next to us started feeding it and my girls jumped right in there to feed him too. Yes, my girls who are scared of ALL cats and dogs hand fed a wild animal bread! Haha!

This picture made me laugh. Avery scared me half to death the whole time we were feeding ducks. I knew at any moment she was about to run right into the pond!

Landon just hung out and was a happy boy!
Daddy and his girls (with his boy in the stroller! )

We ended our day at Pei Wei for dinner of course, and then some frozen yogurt. A fun family day indeed!
