You know how I said earlier that I thought maybe I should try again for some more pumpkin pictures since Avery missed the first round? Well it bothered me enough that last week I took the girls to a small pumpkin patch here in Kingwood at a local church. It was really small, not much to do at all but look at pumpkins, but I did manage to get a few cute pictures. And that's what it's all about right!
This was taken at home right before we left. Avery was not wanting to be involved!

Pumpkin Carving
I really do love the fall, mostly because it means the beginning of the season of traditions. It's so fun to spend a little bit more time together as a family, and talk about how much things have changed since the last time we did this. Pumpkin carving is definitely a fun tradition in our home, as it is in most!
This year we made a little lesson out of cleaning out the pumpkin and learning how pumpkins grow. Aubrey was all about digging in and helping me clean all the gooeyness out. Adalyn, on the other hand, was more interested in just watching! After we cleaned it out, we roasted our pumpkin seeds and enjoyed a yummy snack.

They waited patiently for Daddy to get home so they could watch him carve it into a Jack O Lantern. They got a little squirmy while they waited and we did have to remind the repeatedly to get off of the counter. But it was a fun night and Daddy made a pretty "scary" Jack O Lantern, according to Aubrey at least!

Adalyn really wanted to clean out this little pumpkin to see if it looked the same as the big one. Then she really really wanted Daddy to carve a face in it. He did pretty good!

Avery's Baby Dedication

It took us a bit longer this time, but we finally were able to get Avery dedicated at church this past Sunday. This dedication looked quite different than our other two, mostly because we don't have family around us anymore, but it was still a perfect time to celebrate our sweet blessing. We pray that everyday God leads us and guides us as we raise this sweet girl, and pray that we can be wonderful teachers for her so she can learn about God's unending love for her. We have such a huge responsibility in raising these three girls and it can be overwhelming at times. We just want to raise girls that love God with all of their hearts, and grow to have amazing relationships with Him and with each other! Thank you God so very much for blessing our family with our sweet sweet Avery Brenna!
We didn't get too many good pictures on Sunday unfortunately, but here are a few decent ones we got.
This was taken during the worship service. As you can see I didn't get much worshiping done. They were all three climbing on me at some point! Thank goodness for childcare on Sunday mornings.

Pumpkin Patch 2011
We had a blast this year at the "Pumpkin Patch". I say it like that because apparently because of the drought there were no pumpkins. There were itty bitty ones to take home and then there was a tiny little patch in a garden that had some stacked up to take pictures with. Not what we expected but we still had a blast.
We went to a place called The Oil Ranch and it was such a great ranch, perfect for family fun. They had tons to do and the girls really had so much fun. We rode the train, jumped in the jumping castles, played on a few playgrounds, rode the ponies, looked at all the scarecrows and even learned a little bit about all the farm animals. It proved to be a fabulous family day which are always my favorite!
Time for a train ride!

Cute sisters!

Riding pony swings.

And then riding actual ponies. This came as a complete shock to Jeff and I. You see our girls are seriously terrified of most animals for some crazy reason. Adalyn actually decided she wanted to ride one and then Aubrey followed along. Even though Adalyn doesn't seem to be enjoying herself based on this picture, she was a pretty happy girl!

They had so many scarecrow's all around the ranch which the girls were so excited about. It worked out perfectly since, as you see here, we just finished up a scarecrow theme at school this week!

Learning all about where milk comes from.

Pumpkin pictures. I was so sad because Avery fell asleep right before we took them, so she's not in them. We may have to take another trip to an actual pumpkin patch just for the sake of a sister picture. Is that crazy of me?

After wards, since we were close to our old stomping ground, we met up with the Wilson's for dinner. The girls always have a blast together!

Fun Week of Learning!
We had lots of fun last week during school. We did lots of seasonal activities which is always fun. The girls really enjoyed it and even learned a few things along the way. If fact when we put Adalyn to bed on Friday night she asked me "Are we doing school tomorrow?". When I told her no since it would be Saturday she replied, "Aww, but I like school". That made me smile!
Here we are counting candy corn, making a candy corn "c" and making a very cute candy corn man! They thought he was pretty special.

We also read one of our favorite fall books and made some yummy pumpkin bread. The girls love helping me bake! We had so much eating it that I forgot to snap a picture of that part.

This little craft was fun. We sorted the pumpkins from largest to smallest.
Leaf prints! We collected leaves outside, painted them and then pressed them onto construction paper.

And lasts but not least, finger print fall trees!
Now I promise I won't blog every step of our home school journey, but I thought these were fun and might give all my mommy friends some ideas!
