I'm sure those who know us well, know exactly what I mean by this, and that was of course the beach! We headed to the coast at pretty much every free moment we had. It was one of our favorite parts of living in San Diego, and one of the things we miss the most. We had to squeeze in as much time at the beach as we could. We mostly hung out in Del Mar, but we also ventured out a couple of times.
This particular evening we went and had a picnic at our favorite spot in Del Mar, just like old times. Just us. It was such a fun night. Aubrey REALLY had been wanting to put her feet in the water so her and Jeff went down to the water just for that reason. It was a little chilly for the rest of us, so we were happy just watching.

Then the girls ran around in the grass and let me snap a few pictures.

Later that week we were going to do another beach day in Del Mar. We had heard that their was a high surf advisory so at the last minute we decided to go to Oceanside instead and see how big the waves were. Well saying that they were huge is truly an understatement. They were probably 8 to 10 foot. Jeff and I were mesmerized watching them, and watching the surfers try and try again. The waves were so big that there wasn't much beach left. One thing we have always loved about Oceanside was the really deep beaches, but this time we were backed up all the way to the parking lot, and still nervous that the water was at some point going to come up to our spot. And that is exactly what happened! We got COMPLETELY wiped out by a wave. Luckily Avery was strapped in her car seat so she is the first thing I grabbed. But when I looked down I saw the other two girls screaming. The wave knocked Adalyn all the way over, the water up to her neck. I started panicking and actually yelled "Can someone please help me kids!". How embarrasing! Jeff grabbed the chairs and not the kids! He didn't realize what had happened. Anyways, luckily a nice lady helped them up and put them in a chair, while another man helped us grab all of our stuff which was drenched. This is why we had to buy a new camera. The wave killed it, but luckily we were able to get the pictures off. So here is how the day started, before the wave came and messed our perfect day up!

After the wave incident, we talked forever on what to do next. We didn't just want to go back to my parents house since we were prepared for a whole beach day. So what did we decide to do? Head on over to Del Mar. Rememeber our camera died, but I did manage to get a couple decent pictures on my phone! The waves were still big there, but not nearly as huge as Oceanside. We wished we had just spent the day in Del Mar like originally planned, but oh well! We made a great new memory!
Jeff and the girls had so much fun building this sand castle. They were entertained for a long time!

We are so thankful we got to spend so much time in San Diego. It really was a blessing to be there, and helped me with my homesick issues and excepting why God moved us. He has really done great things!
